The addtion removal and of course the modification of Puppets is completed through this script. Accessible through the Portal or the Communications Panel the puppet configuration is quite simply the one stop for everything reguarding puppets.

Details

Puppet Creation:

Puppets are issued on a first-come-first-served basis and are unique in nature. Meaning that if someone has the handle named 'Joe Blow' and one attempts to create a handle of the same name, Ethereal Realms will prevent the creation of the second handle of the same name.

Handles, cannot be shorter then three characters, but in return allows for a multitude of special characters. In fact handles can be customized to a degree like '¶ Ångel In ßlåck ¶' or '• ¤ Incømplete ¤ •' which are actually legal and valid for use within the individual Realms.

In order to add a user complete the following steps:

  • Goto the main configuration screen for Puppets
    • Type in a desired puppet name under the 'Add a Puppet Prompt'
    • Click on the 'Add' button
[The main page will reload, and the puppet should appear in the list. If this is not the case a message stating why should be listed.]

Puppet Removal:

The removal of puppets is more extreme then puppet suspension which is found within the Puppeteer Configuration script. If you however, do see a need of removing them outright then the following steps would be followed:

  • Goto the main configuration screen for Puppets
    • Select the desired puppet from the Puppets list
    • Click on the 'Remove' button
[The user will then dissapear from that list of puppets after the page has loaded once more]

Puppet Modification:

The modification of details for a puppet is one of the core operations of this script. Of course, without the ability to change the taglines, title and gummy there would be little point in even using Ethereal Realms. This section will describe how to modify a puppet.

In order to modify the puppets details do the following:

  • Goto the main configuration screen for Puppets
    • Select the desired puppet from the Puppets list
    • Click on the 'Details' button
[The page will refresh showing puppet details specifically]

Once here you will be able to modify the following options:

Image Link:

Many puppets posting in Realms will have an image that is used in conjuntion with the post. This can of course vary in size and dimensions and all that is required is a valid URL to an image. A point of interest is that Ethereal will automatically provide the dimensions once your submit.

Puppets Homepage:

This field which requires a valid URL allows the Puppeteer to link to a page of significance for that puppet. This can be character sheets for Vampire the Masquerade(TM) or a personal page for more personal puppets in nature. Be it what it may, if you wish to link something from your puppet on a consistent basis use this link.

Gummy Picture:

Gummies are images that provide a link to the puppets homepage. They also allow to be changed for apperance and preference. Currently there is a myriad of icons to choose from, and are generally ordered in an alphabetical manner. Select one you wish and submit at the bottom for the change to take effect.

Tagline:

The tagline section is a field into which you can write such things as E-Mail address, instant messenger information or really whatever one wishes. This meerly serves as an additional information field located after the title.

Title:

This field is where the puppets name will appear. Of course this can be changed so the name itself will appear in different colours and fonts (if you are familiar with HTML) or move the name around as one sees fit. This can be done using the case sensitive NAME macro for example: 'Just a regular NAME today' will appear as 'Just a regular Joe today' if the puppets name is in fact Joe.

Of course if NAME is omitted the name will appear in the beginning of the title and any text added into this field will appear after the name. In other words, use the NAME macro if you wish to change where the name will appear.

Once you have completed changes to your puppet. Press the submit button, once the page has reloaded, the changes you make should re-appear. If this is not the case then try again or contact the webmaster.

NOTE: Click on back to listing will take you back to the main section of this script.
